Abstract Exercising and eating healthy are not just an individual choice, but influenced by the social environment. Family members, friends or neighbors influence (un)healthy choices individuals make, yet little is known about other important contacts: colleagues. Many people spend at least 8 hours a day work, mostly surrounded same As third of daily calories consumed in workplace lot time spent sitting there, colleagues could be shaping employees make. We study to what extent each other's exercise behavior. focus on two pathways: can encourage lifestyle act as role models whose behavior observed copied. use European Sustainable Workforce Survey, with data 4345 402 teams 113 organizations. measured how often eat fruit vegetables. number days past week did sports/physical activity for more than 30 minutes. Colleague encouragement was assessed which said their them food frequently. computed colleague taking average vegetable consumption, exercise, all team. fitted multilevel nested controlled gender, age, education, working hours, job physical demands, self-rated health, sector country. Preliminary results show positively affected consumption (p<.01), not(p=.62). Both (p<.01) (p=.04) relate consumption. (p=.03), negatively, exercise. Worksite health interventions should emphasize may play. Key messages Next family, neighbors, also other’s play into account when attempting improve employee health.
